Low-carbon roadmap

As part of Prysmian Group's integrated sustainability strategy, each factory will prepare a roadmap for transitioning of their internal logistics to reduce its environmental impact. This includes both owned and leased vehicles from forklifts and pallet jacks to vans and trucks.

Switch from diesel to EV forklifts

Prysmian Group factories use a mix of diesel powered and electric forklifts. 

Most of these are leased and can be replaced by electric versions at the end of their contracts - but with a smaller carrying capacity of between 8 and 10 tonnes.

Therefore, the replacement will not be 100% in the near future, as the diesel powered versions are necessary for heavy lifting logistics operations.

EV forklift status

Fleet size 176 forklifts in 2023 consisting of:

  • 71% electric
  • 28% diesel ( bio-based mainly)
  • 1% LPG

 

Fleet size in 2024 reduction by -5% forklifts consisting of:

  • 95% electric
  • 5% diesel
