Empowering the innovators of tomorrow: Prysmian Group's STEM project to support local communities
Committed to having a positive impact on local communities and building a more inclusive environment, Prysmian Group North Europe leverages on the power of education to inspire primary school kids to explore the wonders of STEM.
Recently, Prysmian Group held a graduation ceremony for a project aimed at inspiring primary school children from disadvantaged backgrounds to explore the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) functions. Through a playful approach, the project seeks to nurture curiosity, and provide invaluable educational opportunities to the young minds.
Not a typical approach to STEM
Earlier this year, Prysmian Group launched a project together with an external partner and a local primary school located in Delft to bring STEM education to kids. Throughout the course, the young explorers had a chance to discover a wide range of STEM concepts, including physics, chemistry, biology, in a playful way.
Kids enthusiastically participated in various experiments, building rockets, creating chemical reactions, and much more. Through this hands-on approach, the children not only developed an understanding of STEM principles but also cultivated critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork skills.
Celebrating the achievements
The culmination of this remarkable journey was marked by a joyous graduation ceremony, where the young graduates enjoyed the show, were awarded diplomas and received memorable gifts. The event served as a celebration of their achievements and a testament to the power of education to shape a brighter future and community support.
Making a Lasting Impact
A similar project has already taken place also in Estonia, where kids had a chance to participate in a STEM summer camp.
“It is not a one-shot initiative, but a long-term project that we aim to continue”, says Dario Rugge, HR Director at Prysmian Group North Europe. “Prysmian Group seeks to empower these young individuals with knowledge and skills that can help shaping their futures.”
Looking at long-term perspective, this project could also help to nurture the pipeline of young professionals entering the labour market in a few years.

It is our responsibility to include in these projects those who have fewer opportunities and less access to such types of innovative pathways.”
